In today's rapidly changing political landscape, the importance of experience cannot be overstated. As voters prepare for the upcoming election, it is crucial to consider the qualifications and track record of candidates. I stand out as a candidate who not only has actively participated in the roles and responsibilities of the job on the ABC Committee and understands the complexities of CTA election grant funding, but also have a proven history of effective leadership.

The Value of Experience in Leadership
Experience in leadership roles brings a wealth of knowledge that is invaluable in decision-making processes. Leaders who have navigated challenges understand the nuances of policy-making and community needs. I have spent years in union and community advocacy/leadership, gaining insights that only come from hands-on experience.
Proven Track Record
My tenure in office has been marked by significant achievements that demonstrate her capability to lead effectively. Some of her notable accomplishments include:
Community Outreach: In my time as both a PAC chair and in PIC for San Gorgonio, several events evolved that brought our members and elected officials together to have meaningful dialogues. From Legislative Brunches to School Board Chats, I worked to ensure our members and elected officials discussed topics that were important to our educators in regards to safety, equity, and other important matters relevant to schools and our students.
Education about ABC: Volunteering time at the ABC Committee table at several conferences has been something that I have greatly valued. That time spent has been the most valuable since it allows me to inform our members who we are, what we do, and how the ABC Committee advocates for each regional district to aid local PACs in getting increased funding for their endorsed school board candidates, bond measures, etc., ensuring that our children and schools get allies elected to boards who will be a equitable and strong voice for all students.
These accomplishments are not just statistics; they facilitated discussions and information-sharing about subjects that matter and that they value.
Understanding Members Needs
One of the most critical aspects of effective leadership is the ability to listen and respond to members' needs. I have consistently demonstrated my commitment to engaging with members. When any member reaches out with a question about their ABC applications or any other question/concern, I always make it my priority to quickly respond and support them in any way I can. If not, it is my top priority to work to find solutions/answers to help our members.
Building Relationships
My approach to leadership emphasizes building strong relationships with members. By fostering open communication, I feel I have created an environment where members feel valued and heard. This connection allows me have positive and professional interactions with all members. To me, it is important to foster professional and respectful relationships in a leadership role, and that is why I work hard to build positive relationships with our members.
Navigating Challenges with Expertise
Every leader faces challenges, but not every leader has the experience to navigate them effectively. I have encountered various obstacles during my time in office, from budget constraints to missed deadlines. However, my ability to adapt and find solutions has been a hallmark of my leadership style.
Crisis Management
For instance, during the 2024 school board elections, there were an abundance of ABC grants, statewide. But with the hard work of the ABC Committee and our political organizers, we were able to avert cutting any one out of the funding and successfully aided ALL of our applicants. By coordinating with the other members and CTA, I was able to support the District M locals, demonstrating my ability to lead in a challenging time.
Conclusion
The upcoming election presents an opportunity for voters to reflect on the importance of experience in leadership. I have proven myself as a capable and dedicated leader who understands the needs of our members. My track record of success, understanding members needs, commitment to building relationships, and navigating challenges with expertise makes me the ideal candidate for re-election.
As you prepare to cast your vote, consider the impact of your choice. Re-electing me means supporting a leader who has consistently demonstrated my dedication to our members, students, and schools. Let’s ensure that our future is in experienced hands. My name is Loretta Arenas and I thank you for your support!
